• At the heart of a walled ancient city of stepped temples, a colossal ritual mechanism of carved stone rings and bronze counterweights, older than the city itself, grinds awake: its concentric rings turn, the glyphs align, and a white-hot sphere swells at its center. The shockwave is already racing outward over the rooftops, turning the sky an acid lime green, and every warrior on the walls and in the streets, friend or foe alike, disintegrates into drifting motes of light. Birds are caught mid-flight as silhouettes of ash. Palette: white-hot core, acid lime green sky, deep teal shadows, dark city silhouettes, tiny gold motes. Camera: far aerial view from a mountainside, the mechanism in the upper center and the expanding sphere dominating the scene. Mood: apocalyptic, absolute, beyond war.
